Today at Glastonbury, Greta Thunberg spoke to the crowd without using any harsh language but warned them that they were facing a “complete natural catastrophe” brought on by “forces of greed.”

At 5:15 p.m., a 19-year-old Swedish climate activist spoke on the Pyramid Stage about climate change, claiming that the current crisis is “not the new normal.”

She denounced “lying” political figures while admonishing them that “together we can do the seemingly impossible” and “we can still avert the worse repercussions.”

“A climate and ecological emergency is only getting started. This is not the new normal; until we put the needs of people and the environment above personal gain and greed, the situation will only worsen.

She said, “We need to make major changes to our cultures” and “We need rapid significant emissions reductions.”

“Our fight for the natural world is restricted to a desperate struggle to escape a total natural catastrophe,” she continued. “The forces of greed and profit and planetary destructions are so powerful.”

We should be fighting for the well-being of people and the environment, but instead we are up against those who are determined to obliterate both. Our political leaders are free to say one thing today and act completely otherwise.

As new coal mines, oil fields, and pipelines are opened, they can claim that a climate emergency exists. Not only is lying by our leaders now socially acceptable, but it is also essentially what we anticipate of them.

Prior to the publication of her new book, The Climate Book, on October 27, Thunberg gave this address. Californian female rockers Haim performed after she made her appearance.

She has been organizing school strikes in Sweden, but it is unknown how she got there.

For the first time since Covid, the celebrations started on Thursday, with thousands of people setting up camp by Tuesday.

Three years ago, Sheryl Crow gave the 16-year-old activist a dedication on her song “Soak Up The Sun.”

Greta published the Climate Book earlier this year, a new book with 100 top environmentalists and specialists.

“This is the largest story in the world,” she declared at that point, adding that it needed to be spread as widely as our voices could go.

To address the climatic, ecological, and sustainability crises holistically, I have chosen to use my platform to write this book, which is based on the greatest knowledge currently available.

Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar, and Billie Eilish are this year’s Glastonbury headliners. Billie Eilish criticized the US Supreme Court’s abortion rights reform during her fiery Pyramid Stage performance last night.

As she entered the stage at the Glastonbury Festival on Friday, she declared that the decision by the US Supreme Court to overturn Roe V. Wade was a “sad day for women.”

The 20-year-old singer said she “couldn’t bear to think about” the decision that terminated the US Constitution’s protection of the right to an abortion, leaving it up to individual states to decide whether to make it illegal. The singer made her festival debut in 2019 on The Other Stage at Worthy Farm.

The PM’s assertion that lockdown-busting gatherings were not parties was referenced in the many partygate-themed “this is a work event” flags that were prominently displayed at the festival.

The event was affected by showers yesterday morning, and there are worries about severe rain tomorrow and showers on Sunday.
