The suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, has reportedly been transferred from the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja to an undisclosed private facility.
This move is said to have been made in order to exert greater control over Bawa, as he had allegedly refused to cooperate with the secret police during his detention and declined to provide any statements.
Bawa’s Assertion of Detention Without Charges
During his time in custody, Bawa reportedly asserted that the DSS had no authority to detain him without pressing charges, which led to his decision not to write any statements while in their custody.

According to an anonymous security source who spoke with SaharaReporters, Bawa has been relocated from the DSS headquarters to one of their private facilities.

It is worth noting that both Bawa and the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, have been detained.
Their suspension came shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office as the successor to Muhammadu Buhari.

Bawa and Emefiele are currently facing accusations of corrupt practices and abuse of office, which prompted their suspension from their respective positions.
