Super Falcons receives commendation from Sports Minister

After their match against the Moroccan women’s team in the second semi-final of the African Women Cup of Nations, Nigeria’s Super Falcons were praised for their bravery and tenacity by Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Sunday Dare.

Hon. Dare praised the Super Falcons, saying, your tenacity, spirit, and game management deserve praise.

Your tenacity, dedication, and battling spirit are admirable.

You once again demonstrated the never-say-die spirit of true Nigerians by holding the Moroccans in front of a crowd of more than 45,000 spectators.

You held your own even when we were down to nine players following those red cards.

You stand up for us. Nigeria is pleased with you.

“It was a game I watched closely, and I’m really happy you showed the Nigerian spirit.

Even though we lost, I am still proud of our team.

The nine-time winners made a valiant exit with pride, falling to hosts Morocco 4-5 on penalties after playing the majority of the game with nine players due to the dismissal of midfielder Halimatu Ayinde and attacker Rasheedat Ajibade for dangerous play in the second half.

On Friday, July 22nd, the Super Falcons will take on the She-polopolo of Zambia in the tournament’s third-place game.
