Student Zakariya Rahim remembered after friend’s car hit a pole

Tragically, a juvenile passenger who was murdered when his closest friend lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a telegraph pole was about to take his HSC and was four days away from being 18 years old, according to the mother of the victim.

Without realizing it, Zakariya Rahim, 17, spent Saturday night posing for pictures at a family wedding with his mother, siblings, and other family members.

A few hours later, the Year 12 student died when his companion was off the main road in Hoxton Park in early Sunday morning in Sydney’s southwest.

The most recent tragedy occurred barely three weeks after a horrific incident south-west of Sydney at Buxton claimed the lives of five teens.

Just last Wednesday, Sofina Khan, Zak’s mother, published pictures of her delighted son at a Hoxton Park High School graduation ceremony wearing his cap and gown.

“I can’t believe you have developed into such a powerful, gorgeous, and kind soldier. I wish you the utmost best, inshallah.”

Love you so much and you make me feel like a proud mother every time,” Ms. Khan said on Facebook.

She posted pictures of Zak, her other son Jude, and her daughter Zaiba during their cousin’s wedding on Saturday.

She captioned a picture of the siblings, “My world.”

On Monday, the distraught mother finally spoke out to say that the family does not have any ill will against the 17-year-old green P-plate driver who is still in the hospital.

She is wishing her son’s buddy a swift recovery, just like Zakariya would.

Ms. Khan also gave a heartbreaking tribute to her youngest son, who had a golden heart.

He was the one who could make any miserable situation better. He had already chosen what he wanted to do after his HSC and had a fantastic personality and a promising future, Ms. Khan told the Daily Telegraph.

We are at a loss for words to express how we are feeling right now. He was a courteous youngster who was obedient to adults and children alike.

“He (Zak) was of a very forgiving temperament, so he would pray for his closest buddy to get well who was driving and we want the same,”

In four days, Zak was scheduled to celebrate his 18th birthday.

In four days, Zak Rahim would have been 18; we will all mourn him, particularly his first cousins and relatives, a relative said on social media. “RIP Zak Rahim gone so young always in our heart,” the relative wrote.

Students who are broken will get counseling from the school.

Immediately after 3.30am on Sunday, emergency personnel rushed to Hoxton Park Road in response to reports that a white Toyota Camry had struck a utility pole.

On Sunday morning, the busy road through Hoxton Park was shut down for a number of hours as investigators from the collision investigation unit investigated the incident.

Residents said that the accident woke them awake, and then they heard the driver screaming frantically for his companion who was stuck inside the car.

One resident remembered, “There was someone standing there saying, “Help me, my friend’s inside still.”

The circumstances behind the collision are still being looked into.

Police are asking anybody with knowledge or who may have dashcam video to get in touch.

Less than three weeks had passed since the horrifying crash in Sydney’s southwest at Buxton near Picton, which claimed the lives of five teenagers between the ages of 14 and 16.

Tyrell Edwards, 18, is accused of reckless driving on five counts following the high-speed collision on the evening of September 6 that claimed the lives of his five passengers.

The four companions from Picton High School who perished in the disaster were three girls and two guys.

In Buxton, a Nissan Navara truck ran off the road, killing Antonio Desisto, Tyrese Bechard, Summer Williams, Lily Van De Putte, and Gabriella McLennan. They were all between the ages of 14 and 16.

The driver, Edwards, was not seriously hurt in the collision and is still in jail.

Five teenagers amazingly survived when their vehicle crashed into a pole at Beverly Hills in southern Sydney ten days after the collision.

Jordan Tye Maaka, the driver, was charged with hazardous driving resulting in great bodily harm, negligent driving resulting in great bodily harm, three charges of causing injury while operating a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle while ineligible.

He was released on bail and ordered to appear again in Sutherland Local Court the following month.
