Stage 2 load-shedding by Eskom

Stage 2 load-shedding by Eskom

Eskom has announced that Stage 2 load shedding would resume today at 5 a.m. and continue until Tuesday at 5 a.m., meaning that South Africans will be subjected to load shedding for at least the first three days of this week.
Following that, Stage 2 load shedding will be enforced on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4pm to midnight.
Citizens enjoyed a brief reprieve from load shedding after the utility company removed the rotating power outages over the weekend due to a decrease in system demand.
“Load shedding is only enforced as a last resort due to a lack of generation capacity and the requirement to address breakdowns,” Eskom stated.
The company reported that as of Sunday afternoon, at least 13,792 MW of capacity was offline due to breakdowns, while at least 4,886 MW was offline owing to maintenance.
“Since yesterday afternoon, each of the units at the Tutuka and Matimba power stations has been taken down for maintenance. Each unit at the Kendal, Kusile, Matla, and Tutuka power stations was reinstated.
“Eskom will provide a further report on Wednesday afternoon, or as soon as any substantial changes occur,” said the electricity company.
