South Africa has the most animal-friendly safaris, according to the PETA Awards

Two South African safaris have won People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Awards in the area of “Animal-Friendly African Safaris.”

Recently, the first-ever PETA Awards were held, and THREE of the five winners for the most animal-friendly safaris in Africa were African.

According to Tourism Update, the special award recognizes safari establishments that offer wildlife viewing on protected reserves or in national parks and, among other things, maintain a respectful distance from wild animals during viewings and guide small groups at specific times of the day to reduce animal stress.

Winners of the PETA Awards include vegan-only cuisine, cruelty-free amenities and bedding, and no trophy hunting.

Kings Camp in White River, Mpumalanga, and Air Safaris 269 in Cape Town, Western Cape, were the two South African winners.

Kings Camp is located in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve and provides visitors with a luxurious safari experience accompanied by a certified vegan hospitality expert.

The camp overlooks an open savanna plain with a waterhole, which is frequented by an abundance of animals, including the Big 5, both day and night.

AIR SAFARIS 269 Safari enthusiasts who visit Air Safaris 269 in Cape Town can select from 14 packages that allow them to view animals in their natural habitats from the air and on the ground, visit a rehabilitation center for formerly captive African big cats, and learn about research on the African wild dog population.

In addition to ensuring that all trips are vegan, the safari firm offers vegan versions of typical dishes such as braai.

Vegan Safari Africa in Boseja, Maun, Botswana was the other African safari firm to win the distinction of most animal-friendly safaris.
