Snow and ice warnings say travel disruption is likely due to icy surfaces in some parts of UK

The UK is experiencing a return of the cold weather, with the Met Office issuing three yellow snow and ice warnings and a yellow wind warning for Monday and Tuesday.

Northern England and Scotland are expected to be particularly affected, with icy surfaces causing travel disruption. Wales, Northern Ireland, and England will see outbreaks of rain and strong winds.

Last week, Storm Larisa brought widespread disruption, with motorists stranded and some schools closed due to plummeting temperatures.

New snow and ice warnings have been issued for different parts of the UK, with some roads and railways likely to be affected.

The Met Office has also warned of the potential for power cuts and delays to public transport due to strong winds.

Forecasters predict that Monday will be an unsettled day, with rain and strong winds expected.

Daniel Rudman, the Met Office’s deputy chief forecaster, said that colder air would feed into the north of the UK on Monday, with much of the country under the influence of colder conditions overnight into Tuesday.

However, Tuesday is expected to be less cold than last week. The Met Office has not issued any further weather warnings beyond Tuesday at present.
