Seven men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following a stabbing incident during a burglary in west London.

The incident occurred at 5:15 am on Wednesday when intruders broke into a property on Brentwick Gardens, Brentford.

The police were notified, and at the scene, a male was found on the street with knife injuries.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene in Hounslow.

Forensic officers were trawling the scene for clues along with police dog teams, and detectives were also scrutinizing CCTV footage from around the crime scene on a leafy west London street.

According to eyewitnesses, police arrested men who were trying to flee the scene.

One neighbor heard people running and shouting, and then police and ambulances appeared.

Another witness said that it was mayhem for a minute, and there have been problems with drug sellers around the area.

Police are bagging up evidence from the crime scene and carrying out door-to-door inquiries.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said, “Enquiries are underway to notify next of kin.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.”

The suspects were taken to various west London police stations where they remain as detectives establish the full circumstances.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact the police via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The incident is another tragic reminder of the escalating violence in London.

According to a report by the London Assembly, the total number of homicides in London increased by 21% between 2019 and 2020.

As of April 2021, the homicide rate was 1.3 per 100,000 people, which was lower than the national average of 1.6 per 100,000 people.

However, the report also revealed that young people and those from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds are disproportionately affected by violent crime in London.

The police and local authorities are continually working to tackle violent crime in London through various measures, including targeted stop and search, community outreach, and support for youth services.
