According to Naija News, the competition for the Senate President seat primarily involves two prominent candidates.

The first contender is Senator Godswill Akpabio, a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

The second contender is Senator Abdulaziz Yari, the former Governor of Zamfara State.
