Mr. Ouboter, who has sold 50 million lightweight Micro Scooters since 1997, has now presented his £13,200 Microlino bubble vehicles. They are 8 feet in length and 5 feet in width, so three can fit sideways in a parking place.

The model is based on the original Isetta bubble car, which was driven by celebrities such as Cary Grant despite being an inexpensive vehicle. Mr. Ouboter, a 62-year-old former banker, stated, “Scooters kept people moving and prevented many unneeded vehicle trips.”

I believe that a comparable mental shift is now required for urban automobile travel in order to drastically reduce CO2 emissions.

This year, the first 500 Microlinos will be sold in Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, and it is hoped that the vehicle will arrive in Britain by spring.
