Schoolboys rescue guy from dinghy off Essex coast

Schoolboys were hailed as heroes after using a paddleboard to rescue a man who had fallen from an inflatable dinghy off the coast of Essex.

Alex Wayman, age 10, and his brother, Jack, age 14, visited West Beach in Shoebury.

They paddled out in response to the man’s family’s calls for assistance.

The Southend coastguard praised the lads’ “courage and instinct.”

The guy was sent to the hospital and is currently healing from his injuries.

Alex Wayman, age 10, and his brother Jack, age 14, were on a family vacation on West Beach in Shoebury when they heard the man’s family pleading for assistance.

“At that time, my sons swam out to rescue him,” their mother, Lora Croarkin, 40, said. ‘He attempted to get into the kayak, but it was too heavy for them, so they instructed him to hang onto the paddleboard and kick as they paddled away. I believe he would not have lived if the guys had not interfered.

She also said that she was “very proud” of her boys. The Southend coastguard praised the lads’ “selflessness, courage, and instinct” The individual was sent to the hospital and is now recuperating.
