A family’s pet hen just lay a “one in a billion” perfectly round egg, which the family is hoping to sell for close to £500.

On Saturday morning, Annabel Mulcahy was startled to see the ‘strange’ circular egg at her West Oxfordshire house.

The hen, dubbed Twinskie by one of Ms. Mulcahy’s kids, is a rescue that laid the egg against all odds.

Ms. Mulcahy has raised hens with her family in Brize Norton for the last 20 years, and in more recent years as the kids developed a real interest, she has rescued additional birds.

I opened the package, and there it was—a flawless circle, she said.

I looked it up on Google and found a one in a billion statistic. It’s strange,”

According to the Oxford Mail, Ms. Mulcahy also said that she performed a “double-take” and that the egg is so perfectly spherical that she can roll it on the table “like a marble.”

To demonstrate how strange it seems, she snapped a photo of the marble-like wonder next to oval eggs.

The gorgeously round egg will not be eaten because Ms. Mulcahy has listed it for sale on eBay.

She said that in the past, some round eggs sold for as much as £480, and she hoped to use the money to purchase an additional run so she could save more hens.

They’re very nice, she continued. They will come and bask at your feet if I am in the garden.

Twinskie is known as the “Labrador” due of her propensity to follow you around.
