Robin Roberts, the “Good Morning America” anchor, shared that her fiancée, Amber Laign, is doing well in her battle with breast cancer.
Laign was diagnosed with the disease in late 2021 and had to suspend radiation treatments due to complications with chemotherapy, but she was able to complete radiation three months later.
Roberts, who is a breast cancer survivor herself, explained that Laign had to find the right fit for treatment, but the prognosis is excellent, and she’s ready to start a new chapter.
Roberts and Laign are planning to get married this year after being together for 18 years. The couple announced their engagement in January, and Roberts revealed that they have a date in mind.
While Roberts knows what she will wear, she and Laign are still deciding on the traditional aspects of the ceremony. Roberts joked that they will double the chances for single women by having two bouquets.
Roberts expressed her pride in Laign and fellow Thrivers for their grit and grace during a challenging time. She also thanked everyone for their well wishes and prayers. Roberts and Laign started dating in July 2005, and Roberts came out as gay in December 2013.
