Rihanna to perform at Academy Awards ceremony on March 12

Rihanna, who recently delivered an electrifying performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, will be pulling double duty at the Oscars ceremony on March 12.

The Oscar nominee, who is also pregnant with her second child, is set to perform “Lift Me Up,” the theme from the Marvel film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

The track, which Rihanna co-wrote with Tems, “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Göransson, has earned a nomination for the best original song Oscar. This marks Rihanna’s first Academy Award nomination.

Aside from “Lift Me Up,” there are four other nominees for best original song, including “Applause” from “Tell it Like a Woman” by Diane Warren, Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Naatu Naatu” from “RRR,” and David Byrne’s track “This Is a Life” from “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

The Oscars ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and broadcast on ABC at 8 p.m. ET from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. It should be noted that during her Super Bowl performance, Rihanna was accused of lip-synching by some viewers, who expressed their skepticism on social media. However, the artist is expected to deliver a live performance at the Oscars.
