Ridesharing driver and passenger struck a restaurant, police report

Authorities reported that a car crash into an Irish bar in Arlington, Virginia on Friday night injured at least 15 people and started a fire.

The restaurant was struck by a rideshare driver at around 6:45 p.m. on Friday, according to a report from the Arlington Police Department on Saturday.

The Ireland’s Four Courts pub, which is located in Arlington’s Courthouse district, was seen on video spewing flames and smoke.

Police The number of injuries increased to 15 on Saturday, bringing the total to nine hospitalised patients.

A third person was in severe condition, and two of them were remained in critical condition.

The driver and passenger were among the other six who were hospitalised with non-life-threatening wounds, according to the police.

Six additional people were seen on Friday, treated, and then let go.

Engineers found that the structure was “structurally sound, but could not be reoccupied” after Arlington County Fire Department firefighters put out the fire, according to the fire department.

According to police, “detectives continue to study evidence and consult with witnesses to identify the events that preceded the incident,” which is why the reason of the collision is still under “active investigation.”

Ireland’s Four Courts Pub sent a tweet on Friday asking for prayers and good thoughts for all those who were hurt.

“We appreciate the prompt reaction from @ArlingtonVaFD and @ArlingtonVaPD. We are heartbroken.”
