Referees are awarding indirect free kicks against young football players who use their heads, even accidently, during games.

The Football Association is seeking volunteers to do research on the frequency of heading in young games.

One mother stated, “All youth clubs are volunteer-run.”

England Football, a division of the FA, stated, “We are conducting an internal study to determine the frequency of heading in youth football and the effect of the trial.”
“Volunteers are needed to attend and witness as many Under 7s to Under 12s football games as possible during the trial as part of a crucial aspect of the research.
‘We must increase the amount of actual in-game observations in order to evaluate the trial effectively.
“Therefore, we need a volunteer from each home club to observe and collect data during their upcoming home matches between now and November 20.
Volunteers can enter a prize draw for a chance to win a £50 Amazon gift card for each match they observe and report statistics on.
