The family of Jordan DeMay shared his obituary and held a funeral service at Lake Superior Christian Church on Wednesday, March 30.
The event included a time for sharing memories and tributes, followed by visitation.

Jordan John DeMay, a 17-year-old boy, passed away on March 25, 2022.
Born on June 7, 2004, in Ishpeming, he was the cherished son of John C. and Jennifer DeMay.
Jordan had a fondness for visiting his grandparents in White Pine and spent much of his time in Marquette.
From a young age, he excelled in various sports such as baseball, basketball, football, and track, displaying a true passion for athletics.
His mother even coached him in his first basketball game.
Jordan attended Cherry Creek Elementary, Bothwell Middle School, and was a senior at Marquette Senior High School at the time of his passing.
He actively participated in the football and basketball programs, demonstrating compassion, maturity, and teamwork.

Despite facing a severe knee injury that sidelined him for a year, Jordan showed remarkable determination by rehabilitating himself and planning to attend college.

As a team captain and role model, Jordan was recognized for his spirit of competition and dedication to his sports, earning him a place on the Honourable Mention All-Conference Second Team.

The DeMay family has spoken out about the devastating consequences of s*xtortion scams, which tragically led to Jordan’s death.
After falling victim to an Instagram account operated by a Nigerian man named Samuel Ogoshi, Jordan became entangled in a s*xtortion scheme.
Ogoshi manipulated young men into sharing explicit images and then extorted them.
Jordan, desperate to avoid exposure, attempted to comply with Ogoshi’s demands, but the situation escalated.
In a heartless exchange, Ogoshi allegedly pushed Jordan towards suicide. On March 25, 2022, Jordan tragically took his own life.
Nigerian Men Arrested in Connection with S*xtortion Scheme
Following Jordan’s death, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation launched an investigation.
Three Nigerian men, Samuel Ogoshi, Samson Ogoshi, and Ezekiel Ejehem Robert, were apprehended and now face charges for sexually exploiting over 100 young men and teenage boys in the United States.
The charges include planning harm, sharing inappropriate images of children, and internet stalking.
