Rashford has scored a career-high number of goals, shattering a previous record

Marcus Rashford’s brace in Manchester United’s 3-0 victory over Leicester allowed him to surpass his previous season’s goal total.

Rashford, who began the game as United’s offensive leader against the Foxes, scored in the 25th minute after breaking away from the defense to accept a pass from Bruno Fernandes. The in-form No. 10 handled the ball flawlessly before unleashing a shot beyond Foxes goalkeeper Danny Ward into the far corner.

In the second half, Rashford completed his hat trick by receiving a long pass, gaining a one-on-one matchup with Ward, and striking the ball calmly beyond the Welshman. In lieu of the England international in the 69th minute, Anthony Elanga entered the game.

Rashford has now scored 24 goals this season, which is two more than he scored in his previous best season for goals, 2019/20. The Academy graduate matched that number, 22, when he scored United’s equalizer against Barcelona on Thursday night at the Nou Camp in the Europa League.

Thus far in 2022/23, Rashford has scored 14 Premier League goals, four Europa League goals, five Carabao Cup goals, and one FA Cup goal.

In addition, he has produced eight assists across all competitions, which is only four short of his highest season total of 12 assists, also in 2019/20.
