Liz Truss has received congratulations from President Cyril Ramaphosa after her appointment as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
The Presidency stated in a statement on Wednesday that ties between South Africa and the United Kingdom have always been cordial and robust.
In the release, it was said that “the President expressed confidence that this strategic alliance would continue to expand from strength to strength.”
The United Kingdom and South Africa collaborate bilaterally in a variety of fields, including as commerce and investment, research and innovation, health, energy, and the environment.
In a multilateral setting, South Africa and the UK work together to solve issues including world peace and security, underdevelopment, poverty, economic development, climate change, and averting pandemics in the future.
The Presidency said that President Ramaphosa was looking forward to working with Prime Minister Truss to further solidify the ties of friendship and collaboration between the two nations.
