Police in Limpopo are offering a reward of R50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those guilty for the murder of a man in his house.

On April 18, 2020, Phineas Tswaledi Matsepane was allegedly murdered at his home in Ditwebeleng village, Mecklenburg police district, west of Sekhukhune.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), Matsepane was shot and killed by unidentified assailants during an alleged home invasion on April 18, 2020.

Four men armed with firearms allegedly entered the home violently through the unlocked dining room door and proceeded to the master bedroom. They then discovered a couple and their three-year-old child asleep and ordered them to lie on the ground and cover themselves with blankets.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a police spokesperson, stated that the suspects demanded money from the victim and threatened to burn the victims with an iron if they did not cooperate. They subsequently grabbed the man’s weapon, R31,000 in cash, two cellphones, two flat-screen televisions, and car keys.

“The suspects then escorted the wife out of the residence, while others remained inside with the husband. The suspects then opened fire on the victim, killing him instantly, before leaving in his vehicle, which was later recovered by police after the culprits abandoned it nearby. “Police have opened a robbery and murder investigation and are searching for the suspects,” he said.
