Queen Consort announces the introduction of a countrywide awards program

Today, the Queen Consort announces the introduction of a countrywide awards program, supported by the Daily Mail, to recognize Britain’s unsung army of heroic volunteers.

During this historic year of national celebration, the Royal Volunteer Service (RVS) will honor people who go above and above in their communities with the Coronation Champions Awards.

Her Majesty the Queen Consort lauded the “Herculean efforts” of the 500 volunteers who will be chosen as the nation’s official “Coronation Champions” after a statewide nomination procedure.

A once-in-a-lifetime invitation to one of the formal Coronation events, such as the main Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on May 7 or a Coronation garden party, will also be given to the Champions.

A unique pin and a certificate, both signed by the Queen Consort, will be presented to each recipient.

In order to highlight the heroic work of our country’s volunteers, she said: “I am thrilled to be introducing the Coronation Champions Awards alongside the Royal Volunteer Service.

Millions of unsung heroes around the nation give selflessly of their time and skills to better the lives of people in their local communities.

In honor of the King’s life of public service as well as Camilla’s efforts in areas like literacy and the fight against domestic abuse, volunteering has been chosen as a crucial component of the Coronation festivities.

She is a fervent supporter of volunteering and has called the thousands of people who offer their time each week to worthy organizations the “backbone” of Britain.

Since 2012, she has served as president of the RVS, and she believes that the awards program will motivate future volunteers. In order to do this, submissions are accepted from anybody over the age of 14, and Young Coronation Champions awards are granted to “emerging stars” between the ages of 14 and 18.

The RVS is encouraging nominations in eight award categories—supporting older people, supporting young people and children, crisis and welfare, community, sports, culture, and heritage, health and care, animal welfare, sustainability, and environment—to recognize volunteers who work on a wide range of causes.

The latter was included in recognition of the King’s dedication to environmental issues.

The criteria for judging nominations will be “demonstrated effect, innovation, inspiration, and engagement” during the previous five years.

These will be examined by a group of academics, charity executives, and experts in volunteering.

“Royal Voluntary Service volunteers are among the millions of kind-hearted individuals who are doing amazing work in their communities every single day,” RVS chief executive Catherine Johnstone said.

Along with Her Majesty The Queen Consort, we are honoring outstanding volunteers who have contributed significantly to a variety of charities throughout the UK and from all walks of life.

“I know from experience that volunteers don’t do what they do for acclaim or glory—but I also know that they definitely deserve it,” the speaker asserts.

She added: “Be sure to submit your local heroes, as these awards are a wonderfully exciting chance for outstanding volunteers to be recognised and be part of history in the making.” She called the Coronation “the ideal occasion” for the country to demonstrate its gratitude for volunteers.

On Saturday, May 6, the King and Camilla will be crowned during a long weekend of festivities. The Great Help Out, a day devoted to volunteering on May 8, a bank holiday Monday, is being promoted to volunteers.

The largest and most well-known charities in the nation want the weekend of the Coronation to leave an enduring national legacy as an homage to the King’s career of public service.

The day is a designated Coronation project and is organized by the Together coalition, the RVS, the Scout Association, and other top organizations.

One of the biggest volunteer organizations in Britain, the RVS helps thousands of needy individuals and the NHS.

It provides NHS England with the NHS Volunteer Responders program, and its volunteers worked more than 360,000 shifts at immunization facilities.

Moreover, it conducts patient transportation, home libraries, companionship assistance, and lunch groups. In order to promote welfare, its Virtual Village Hall offers online courses and activities.

The Coronation Champions Awards nomination period ends on Sunday, April 2.
