Thusa Ngwanageno (show love to your brother and sister) has broadened its reach as a means of assisting graduates in their post-university endeavors.
Dr. John Molepo, a senior lecturer and programme head at the University of Mpumalanga, founded the non-profit with the sole mission of raising cash for student registration and tuition expenses.
It currently intends to serve elementary and secondary school students. The organization has also pledged to offer mini-libraries, aid with painting schools, and provide books for disadvantaged students.
In addition, Molepo emphasized the significance of ensuring that tertiary students have driver’s licenses prior to graduation. At least eighty pupils have gotten their licenses as a result of the effort, and Molepo stated that this will promote safe driving and provide the students with greater employment prospects.
“We rely heavily on donations from individuals, which are not always cash,” Molepo explained.
“We also accept donations of office supplies, paint, and anything else we need to maintain our organization. In addition, when you donate to us, we provide you with a certificate that you may produce to SARS [South African Revenue Service] to get your money back.
“We are committed to assisting 1,000 students, and we are appreciative of the help we receive. We also go out on the streets in our [graduation] robes to solicit donations; the funds are utilized to improve the quality of education in South Africa.
He stated that the organization has aided a number of schools, including the RS Maluleka, Rodney Mokoena, and Sinqobile elementary schools, in addition to universities and TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) colleges (unless they are private).
Reitumetse High School and Kgomotso High School are among the secondary institutions that received mini-libraries.
“We also establish relationships with companies to assist graduates obtain experience. Molepo stated, “We have been working with EKS Trading, who is considering hiring some of our pupils.
“We would appreciate more companies joining the effort to combat unemployment in the nation. We may help our kids go to school and pay off their student loans, but the reality is that they still need to work after graduation. This is our commitment to reducing youth unemployment in the nation.
