Prince Harry recently stated that he got into trouble with Meghan during the early stages of their relationship because of language differences

Prince Harry revealed that he and Meghan Markle encountered language barriers early on in their relationship, which caused them “a lot of trouble.” The Duke of Sussex shared this anecdote while answering a speed round of 15 questions on “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert. Harry noted that he had to be careful with his verbiage because American and British vernaculars are different. The two then discussed different language discrepancies. Harry has previously shared how “cultural differences” and a “language barrier” contributed to a past argument with Markle.

The former military pilot felt “overly sensitive” at the time and “snapped at” Markle, speaking to her “harshly” and “cruelly.” Markle, who was “calm and quiet” in her response, told Harry “that she would never stand for being spoken to like that.” This experience led Harry to seek therapy.

During the questionnaire, Harry also mentioned that Markle’s scent is his “favorite smell.” The couple, who began their romance in July 2016, now share son Archie, 3, and daughter Lilibet, 1. The family of four live in California, having left the United Kingdom in 2020 and exited their royal roles the following year. The couple have since been vocal about their strained relationship with Harry’s family members.

When asked about their family’s future, Harry described it with the words “freedom,” “happiness,” “clarity,” “space” and “love.”
