Respected former British lawmakers, military figures, and historians have urged Prince Harry and Meghan Markle not to attend the coronation of King Charles next year.

Several important UK individuals told the Daily Mail on Friday that the couple’s explosive Netflix documentary, which was broadcast on Thursday, should mark the end of their association with the Royal Family.

Former Cabinet Minister and Tory veteran David Mellor stated that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “absolutely should not” attend the May 6 coronation of Prince Charles at Westminster Abbey.

They get income by selling their family down the river. Mellor believes that it should be made clear that the British people do not want them there.

The former Cabinet Minister said that the British would have every right to boo if the pair were to show up. They are a pitiful team, and there is no chance for their future given their current path.”

The coronation of King Charles will occur on May 6, 2023.

Iain Duncan Smith, another former Conservative leader, questioned why the couple would want to attend the coronation if they dislike the royal family so much.

Lady Antonia Fraser, an author and historian, wishes past royals will stay away so as not to steal the spotlight from King Charles and Camilla, the Queen Consort.

“I am concerned that, should they arrive, the cameras may waste time on them. “They should continue to hold hands in Hollywood,” added Fraser.

The vicious criticism arrives days after the premiere of the first three episodes of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary, which attracted thousands of viewers.

“Harry & Meghan” was released on Netflix last Thursday.

The couple made various charges against the Royal Family, including that they maintained a “unconscious bias” against Markle’s color and that King Charles did not care for Harry enough following Diana’s death.

Prince Harry further implied that Prince William did not marry Princess Catherine out of love, but rather because she fit the royal image.

Dai Davies, the former chief of Royal protection, stated that the couple’s allegations could represent a security concern to the Royal Family, which has generally kept personal issues private.

“We do not know what venom will be released next, but considering what has been stated, whether it be a half-truth, a lie, or a mocking of the Royal Family, how could anyone wish to invite them to the Coronation?” Davies stated.

“The portrayal of the monarchy and the Commonwealth as racist is an affront to the United Kingdom and its citizens,” he continued. People with a fixation on the Royal Family may act out their dreams in response to the false narrative portrayed in this series.

According to renowned historian Lord Andrew Roberts, members of the royal family were not invited to Coronations in the past, making it simple for the Royal Family to exclude Harry and Meghan, who voluntarily left the family in 2020.

Queen Caroline was not invited to George IV’s coronation, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor were not invited to George VI’s coronation in 1937, and Elizabeth II’s German relations were not invited to her coronation in 1953, so there is ample precedent for not inviting people who would be a distraction and detract from the main event.

Next year, Charles must determine if he will invite his son and daughter-in-law to his coronation.

Tom Bower told Page Six that it is unclear whether Harry and Meghan would be invited to the Coronation or any future royal occasion. The pair may no longer be welcome in the United Kingdom as a result of the Netflix show.

Chris Parry, a former rear admiral, asserts that the couple “renounced their claim to be members of the Royal Family.”

“They have demonstrated a lack of dependability in terms of recording and reporting,” he continued. “The Coronation is another red carpet occasion for them, and it is likely that they will tread and tell. They do not reflect the majesty and significance of the occasion.”

Bob Seely, a Conservative Member of Parliament, stated, “If I were them, I would abstain, but it’s clear that they want to go and capitalize on the event thereafter.”
