President Muhammadu Buhari congratulates the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development

President Muhammadu Buhari extends his congratulations to the Chief Sunday Dare-led Ministry of Youth and Sports Development as well as the national sports federations and associations for the performance of Team Nigeria at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

With 12 gold, 9 silver, and 14 bronze medals, Team Nigeria had a strong performance in the tournament, placing seventh overall in the medal standings.

The President expresses his happiness at several reports of a calm environment, solidarity, and camaraderie in the camp during the Games, which had a beneficial impact on the participants’ spirits and helped Team Nigeria win a number of medals.

In order to capitalise on the success of the 2022 Commonwealth Games and start early and serious preparations to exceed this remarkable feat in forthcoming contests, President Buhari urged the authorities to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders.

President Buhari assures all stakeholders that youth and sports development will continue to be a top focus for our government while anticipating an enthusiastic welcome from Nigerians for Team Nigeria Birmingham 2022.
