President Muhammadu Buhari condolences to the family of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and the Government and people of Japan

President Muhammadu Buhari sends his deepest condolences to the family of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as well as to the Government and People of Japan in the aftermath of the terrible killing of the former Prime Minister on behalf of the Government and People of Nigeria.

The President assures the family of Abe that all Nigerians are praying for them and thinking of them at this trying time as he joins all Japanese in mourning the passing of the nation’s longest serving Prime Minister and exceptional leader.

President Buhari cites Abe’s unshakable dedication to boosting trade and investment between Africa and Japan through a variety of initiatives and collaborations, utilising the vehicle of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), as one of the reasons why Abe would be remembered.

The President further underlines that under Abe, Nigeria and Japan benefited from a strategic alliance that supported their mutual ambitions for economic cooperation, access to healthcare, the development of human resources, the prevention of natural disasters, and peace and security.

The president of Nigeria prays that his country and the people he so devotedly served would benefit from the memories of the revered worldwide figure and statesman from Japan.
