Powerball jackpot reaches $1.2 billion

The suspense around Powerball’s enormous jackpots will continue to increase. No winning tickets were sold for Monday night’s drawing with a jackpot of almost $1 billion, so the grand prize for Wednesday night’s drawings will be a minimum of around $1.2 billion, according to Powerball officials.

Monday night’s winning lottery numbers were 13-19-36-39-59 and a Powerball 13.

The jackpot on Wednesday will have a minimum cash value of $596.7 million.

As more tickets are sold, the prize could increase.

The $1.2 billion prize would be the second-largest in the history of Powerball, trailing only the world-record $1.58 billion jackpot. It would also be the fourth-largest jackpot in the history of the American lottery.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot would be the largest in over six years.

The previous Powerball jackpot was won in Pennsylvania on August 3. Since then, 38 consecutive Powerball draws have occurred without a big prize winner.

In January 2016, the enormous $1,586 billion jackpot was shared by three winners in California, Florida, and Tennessee.

Winners of the jackpot might receive either an annuity paid out over 29 years or a single sum payment. All reward amounts are taxable.

The odds of winning the prize are -1/292,2,000,000.

Each Powerball ticket costs $2.

There are 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands where tickets are sold.

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET, Powerball drawings are broadcast live and livestreamed at Powerball.com.
