Police T-bone teen’s 4WD in Broome, Western Australia

After leading police on a chaotic pursuit, a 17-year-old kid was apprehended. Police were able to put a stop to the dramatic episode by hitting the teen’s car.

The boy is suspected of stealing a 4WD on Monday in Broome, Western Australia, then swerving through the community while police chased after him.

Before noon, close to the well-known tourist destination Streeter’s Jetty, an unmarked SUV T-boned the car, ending the frenetic pursuit.

According to Craig Parkin, the superintendent of Kimberley Police, the chase started when a bystander saw a vehicle driving recklessly.

We attempted to stop the car after seeing it driving about, but it evidently was unable to do so, the man said.

Police were escorted, according to Superintendent Parkin, through the local high school and part of the golf club’s fairways.

He said, “At this point the high school was shut down, which posed no imminent threat to anybody at the school.”

A witness captured the moment the police were able to halt the car on camera and uploaded it to TikTok.

The teenager’s car was observed driving onto the sidewalk and toward bystanders as a throng gathered around the incident.

The automobile was then observed being T-boned by an unmarked police SUV as it was approaching and coming to a halt.

When the car became stranded, police stormed it as spectators applauded them.

More than 140,000 people have seen the video on TikTok, and commentators made jokes about how long the community will be talking about it.

One jokingly said, “They will speak about this day for years as the most amazing event to happen in Broome.”

Another person said, “Just a typical day in Broome.”

And all they were doing, a third humorously said, was hurrying to the bar to make it in time for happy hour.

In a letter to parents, Broome Senior High School expressed gratitude for how the students and staff handled the unexpected situation on school premises.

A spokeswoman added, “As you are undoubtedly aware, there was a police incident in town today, which had an effect on our school.”

“I want to express my gratitude for the staff and kids’ cooperation throughout the situation. It gives me great pleasure to say that everyone is secure.
