Near Carnival City, a multidisciplinary police squad responded to a mall robbery. In a gunfight, three suspects were killed and two others were wounded. Six individuals were apprehended in total.
Three fatalities result from a high-speed pursuit and gunfight.
Colonel Katlego Mogale, a spokesperson for the Hawks, stated that the interdisciplinary law enforcement team followed up on information concerning people allegedly involved in mall and courier robberies and other significant violent crimes.
“The suspects are reported to have just perpetrated a heist at a retail mall near Carnival City, where they overwhelmed security personnel. Mogale stated that a lookout had been issued for a silver Volkswagen Toureg and a blue BMW believed to be involved in the crime.
The vehicle was detected on the northbound R21, and when the suspects realized the authorities were on their heels, they opened fire on the cops.
The cops fired back, causing the vehicle to collide with a road barrier. “Three of the suspects in the vehicle were fatally wounded, and the other two were transported to the hospital in critical condition,” Mogale explained.
The police seize weapons, ammunition, and cargo.
The Tshwane K9 Unit discovered a second vehicle travelling toward Mamelodi, and four individuals were apprehended. “Members transported the suspects to their residence, where additional contraband was discovered. Mogale stated that three vehicles, a BMW 1series, a Toyota Corolla, and a Volkswagen Jetta, were also impounded at the site.
The police discovered three illegal weapons, ammo, and freight at the scene of the fatal shot. The preliminary inquiry reveals that both the Volkswagen SUV and one of the weapons were reported stolen in January.
The six suspects are anticipated to appear in court on counts of attempted murder, possession of allegedly stolen items, armed robbery, and possession of firearms and ammunition without a license.
