Channel 10’s respected political editor Peter van Onselen has announced that he will be leaving the network after four years in the role.
Mr van Onselen is making a surprising career move by returning to academia, where he previously worked as a professor at Edith Cowan University.
Prior to joining Channel 10 in 2018, Mr van Onselen had worked at Sky News Australia and The Australian newspaper.
He also has experience as an advisor for former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
In a recent tweet, Mr van Onselen hinted that the commute between Sydney and Canberra for his Channel 10 role had taken its toll on him.
