Pearl Thusi supports the plea to revive ‘Queen Sono’

Pearl Thusi, a South African actress and television host, has signed an online petition urging Netflix to continue the African series, Queen Sono.

Pearl Thusi portrayed the main character in Queen Sono. The series was canceled in November 2020, and she was devastated when Netflix made the decision. A petition to bring the series back has been started, and it is gaining momentum once more. The petition’s goal is 500 signatures, and it has already received more than 337.

“Queen Sono is an original Netflix South Africa production that altered many lives forever. A series that gives us a stunning view on what it’s like to live on the diverse African continent. A series that provided African men and women creative strength and a voice… Why hasn’t Queen Sono been given the go-ahead for a second season since it had so much support before the pandemic?” asked Alicia Harris, the petition’s initiator.

Pearl has voiced on social media her disappointment regarding the cancellation of the show. The actress has supported Alicia’s petition to renew the series for a second season.

“It’s good to see people appreciate your effort. I love and appreciate you no matter what,” she captioned her Instagram story.

A Netflix spokesperson confirmed to ZAlebs in 2020 that been canceled “due to production challenges that arose due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

They said in a brief statement, “We’ve made the difficult decision not to move forward with season two of Queen Sono”
