Parole hearing support

Parole hearing support

A former FHM model, Gemma Fernandez, who had a ‘romantic’ relationship with Charles Bronson, has attended his parole hearing this week to support his bid for freedom.

They initially started communicating through letters and video calls named ‘purple visits’, and after Covid restrictions eased in 2021, she visited him face to face at HMP Woodhill.

However, they split shortly after, with Bronson stating that ‘romance and prison don’t mix.’

Despite their breakup, Fernandez has remained an enthusiastic supporter of Bronson, wearing a ‘Free Charles Salvador’ t-shirt and mingling with crowds outside the Royal Courts of Justice.

According to her, she has been advised not to say much, but she believes it’s time for Bronson to be released, and she supports him.

Bronson, who has changed his name to Salvador, has been in prison for 48 years since his first conviction for armed robbery in 1974.

During his time inside, he has taken hostages in ten prison sieges, attacked at least 20 prison officers, and caused £500,000 in damage in rooftop protests.

However, he has claimed that he is now a ‘man of peace’ and has asked to be freed for the sake of his 95-year-old mother.

Fernandez has previously opened up about her visit to see Bronson, describing him as a gentleman who saved her two mince pies from the canteen alongside a flask of hot water and two teabags.

She had never been to a prison before visiting him and decided to get in contact with him after watching Tom Hardy play him in a 2008 film about his life.

Ms Fernandez is now managing the petition website called Free Charlie Official, and she reads the emails she receives from Bronson’s supporters every day.
