As the distraught father urges Australians to become organ donors, a paramedic who was rushed to an emergency at his own home relived the horrifying moment he realised his baby son couldn’t be rescued.

When Sarah Heise, his distraught wife, called Triple Zero to report that their 12-year-old son Flynn wasn’t breathing, Troy Heise was on duty.

The gravity of the situation started to dawn on the seasoned Queensland paramedic, who hurried home and immediately started making attempts to revive his small son.

There was no reason for him to believe it would ever occur in his house.

When Flynn realised the shower rope was wrapped around his neck while he was fiddling around in the shower, he either panicked or slipped.

Ms. Heise discovered the young child unconscious on the bathroom floor, and her husband later began treating the child while his colleague took over.

Mr. Heise told The Sunday Project, “I wanted to help as much as I could.”

However, when it’s your own son, you become emotionally invested, terrified, angry, and anxious; as a result, you can’t perform.

After 30 minutes of resuscitation efforts, Mr. Heise claimed that his 15 years of expertise had shown him that Flynn might be in his final moments.

The 12-year-old was miraculously revived, and his family used the crucial final minutes to say their goodbyes before he was brought to the hospital.

Three days after Flynn’s tragically early death, hospital workers asked the boy’s family if they would be interested in donating the young boy’s organs.

After urging from Flynn’s older sister Morgan, they consented when requested to give Flynn’s heart, lungs, liver, and eye tissue.

As she sat there, she reportedly told her mother, “Just picture that family, picture that call,’she’s going to get another 10 years’ or’she’ll be able to go to formal’”.

In addition to two ladies receiving his kidneys, Flynn’s heart, lungs, and liver were transplanted into small infants who would have died without the donation.

Several people had their sight restored using the 12-year-eye old’s tissue.

Even if my son hadn’t survived, Ms. Heise added, “their family would be rejoicing and delighted that their loved one is going to make it.”

I’m quite proud of what he’s accomplished.

With donations, there are currently nearly 2,000 persons in need of a life-saving organ.

The rate of organ donation has reduced by 25% since the Covid epidemic started.

In order to assist other families dealing with the loss of a loved one, Flynn’s sister is currently pursuing a nursing degree.

Just a few months after losing his kid, Mr. Heise went back to work as a paramedic and claimed that while it had been difficult, it was his duty to serve others.

‘It wasn’t a simple choice. But even though he isn’t present, my boy is still here because he saved lives. Just a proud father,’ he declared.
