Kimberley’s Greenpoint High School was forced to close due to an uptick in gang violence.

There are rumours that problems at the bar have spread to the school.

Both parents and instructors at the Northern Cape school have been living in constant terror for their lives as well as the lives of the pupils.

According to reports, gang-related attacks have increased dramatically since the start of 2021.

Because some of the students are supposedly part of these gangs, it is said that the gang violence starts on the weekends at neighbourhood bars and then spreads to the school.

A kid was stabbed on Wednesday, July 20, at Greenpoint High School when gang fighting broke out.

The high school was shut down as a result of this terrible tragedy.

The Governing Body of the school disclosed that steps had been made to stop the continuous violence there.

Greenpoint High School has suspended unruly kids.

According to SABC News, SGB Chairperson Leon Moyobo, the disruptive students have been suspended.

A disciplinary hearing will be held after the seven-day suspensions.

Monyobo said.

Army action is being demanded by some parents.

In response, the Northern Cape Department of Education said that its educational support team had been dispatched to offer counselling to students and instructors.

Some parents have called for the stationing of soldiers at Greenpoint High School out of concern for the safety of their children.

They believe that the military will help to calm the scene.

Free State Grade 6 student STABBED to death in a school shooting

In similar news, it was earlier reported that tragedy befell the educational community when a grade 6 student in the Free State passed away after being fatally stabbed by another student.

Both students attend Zama Primary School in Zastron, where the event took place, according to the Free State Department of Education. It was only 600 metres away.

The lads allegedly got into a brawl on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, according to the department.

In the end, one student used a spoon to stab the other.

The perpetrator was told to leave and come back with his parents after the school principal intervened.
