Onyx, Alanis Morissette’s 6-year-old daughter, calls her by her entire name instead of’mom’

Alanis Morissette stated that her 6-year-old daughter does not address her as “mom” but rather by her full name.

Thursday on the Gary Bryan Morning Show, Morissette discussed both her 1995 classic album “Jagged Little Pill” and her three children.

“My kid has taken to calling me by my full name because she has observed that no one uses it when we are in an intimate setting,” Morissette stated roughly 11 minutes into the show.

Therefore, she will say “Alanis Morissette” instead of “mom.” Morissette replied, imitating her daughter by dramatically pronouncing her own name. “I’m like, ‘Yes?’”

Morissette and her spouse Mario “Souleye” Treadway have three children: Winter Mercy, age 3, Onyx Solace, age 6, and Ever Imre, age 11. She told Health in 2020 about her parenting style of “unschooling” her children, committing to “child-led education” in which she encourages “deep dives” into things that her children are visibly interested in.

In a June 23 birthday post for Onyx, Morissette referred to her daughter as her “perfect Dream-girl-daughter,” describing her as “everything I wished for, multiplied by a million.” In the photograph, Onyx appears to be clutching a bird while smiling.

Morissette, who won her first Grammys for “Jagged Little Pill” and “You Oughta Know” in 1996, stated that her children listen to her award-winning discography.

Morissette stated, “Even when I’m like, ‘Ah, turn that off!’” They are very adorable.
