A homeless man raped a CA woman while she walked her dogs, causing horrific injuries

A woman walking her dogs in California was brutally attacked and raped by a homeless man, leaving her unrecognizable.

Marissa Young, 44, of Torrance was savagely attacked on July 31 by Darrel Waters, 46, a homeless man who had been released from knife charges by a vigilant district attorney days before.

She was walking her dogs in the vicinity of a field when she was ambushed from behind.

She told KTLA, “I didn’t hear anything.” I had no headphones on, was not looking at my phone, and was simply walking in a straight line to my destination.

He severely assaulted her by forcing her to the ground and hitting her ‘at least’ twenty times, smashing her nose in four places, breaking her cheekbone, removing eight teeth, and raping her.

“There is still considerable swelling in my face,” she remarked.

Her injuries required that her jaw be wired shut, and she will require eight dental implants – which could cost up to $24,000 for the implant alone, not including the extraction – as well as counseling to treat her Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

After physicians were able to unwire her jaw, she was allowed to undergo dental surgery on October 14 – 2.5 months after the incident.

According to KTLA, she underwent five surgeries over the period of three months and has been unable to work.

‘Those who know her well are aware of how much she enjoys laughing; being able to do so without feeling self-conscious about her teeth will be a significant advancement. It will take time, but having her lovely smile restored will make an enormous difference in regaining her sense of self,’ her friend Debbie Keyser wrote on the GoFundMe page.

According to the GoFundMe page created by her friend Debbie Keyser, Waters is currently being held without bail and has been charged with three felonies. Police were able to locate Waters on August 1, and he has been charged with three felonies.

He was charged with rape, oral coitus, and forcible sexual penetration.

The night of the incident, he was captured on surveillance tape wearing a dark, baggy clothes while roaming near a dumpster.

Prior to his release, he had been arrested for illegally possessing a blade.

According to the Torrance City Attorney’s Office, which is part of the LA County District Attorney’s Office, Waters’ release was “in conformity with the penal statute.”

“It enrages me,” Young told KTLA. It’s disturbing to think that they detained this man with a large illegal knife, removed it the next day, and then released him despite his criminal history.

Once a traumatic event of this nature occurs, a person’s perspective on the appropriateness of the legislation alters.

Young is still hoping to enroll in nursing school, according to Keyser, despite her horrible injuries and ongoing recovery.

DailyMail.com has sought response from Keyser and Young.

THE ‘HARMLESS-TO-CRIME’ Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon has been criticized for the rise in crime caused by his progressive policies.

George Gascon, the district attorney of Los Angeles, has been attacked for his lenient approach to crime.

Critics claim that he campaigned on sweeping criminal justice reforms that prioritize the interests of offenders over the protection of the community.

In a number of instances, his “soft-on-crime” stance has had devastating implications for victims.

Brianna Kupfer, 24 years old, was murdered in a Los Angeles furniture store where she worked in January.

Shawn Laval Smith, 31, was located in Pasadena a day after the Los Angeles Police Department declared him the leading suspect in the random, unprovoked murder.

Smith, whose criminal record spans both coasts, was out on bail at the time he reportedly stabbed Kupfer to death.

Smith was arrested and charged with violent offenses in at least three states one week before the murder.

After reportedly firing a gun at an inhabited vehicle in Charleston, South Carolina, in November 2019, he was free on a $50,000 bail at the time of Kupfer’s slaying.

In the aftermath of Kupfer’s murder, Jonathan Hatami, a veteran prosecutor in Los Angeles County who has been a vocal critic of Gascon and sued him for retaliation last year, lashed out at his employer.

He stated that his progressive policies are failing the community and that he, along with other “woke” district attorneys in places with growing crime rates, should be thrown out of office.

He stated, “So now you have a large group of people who are not in jail, who are committing thefts and who are hooked to narcotics… who are not being held accountable for their activities.” They are currently preying on innocent persons.

Additionally, the city has experienced a stunning increase in home invasion robberies and systematic retail store vandalism.

Hannah Tubbs, a transgender pedophile, was recorded bragging about her lenient sentence in a juvenile detention center in February, demonstrating Gascon’s “soft” practices.

Tubbs was given a two-year prison sentence for abusing a 10-year-old girl in a restaurant restroom.

Gascon has rethought his strategy in light of Tubbs’ disturbing statements made in jail, including that she would not be required to register as a sexual offender and that ‘nothing’ would be done to punish her.

Gascon told the Los Angeles Times, ‘It’s awful that she gamed the system.’ If I had it to do over again, I would prosecute her in adult court.

His detractors, though, claim that his professed regret is only a public stunt as recall moves against him intensify.

Tubbs was 17 years old at the time of the incident.

Gascon declined to file a motion to take the case out of juvenile court, where it was filed due to Tubbs’ age at the time of the offense.

The tape revealed that Tubbs also made obscene and derogatory remarks about the molested youngster, laughing about her sexual desire to the 10-year-old.

After refusing to prosecute Tubbs as an adult for the offense she committed as a male minor, the DA has conceded that she may have received a sentence that was too mild.

According to Gascon’s detractors, he was aware of the recordings well before they were made public, but he did not take them seriously until they began to damage his reputation.

In a separate case, Gascon is attempting to commute the death sentence of a repeat offender who kidnapped, robbed, and executed a father of three in 1992.

Scott Forrest Collins, now age 51, kidnapped and held at gunpoint 41-year-old Fred Rose as he left his Palmdale office for lunch thirty years ago.

Collins withdrew $200 using Rose’s debit card, shot him in the head, and dumped his body in North Hollywood, where it was discovered by a jogger.

Collins used Rose’s automobile to participate in a gang-related shooting before crashing and being charged with murder. Rose died the next day at a hospital.

Now, Gascon, a staunch opponent of the death penalty who is also facing a second recall attempt from critics of his soft-on-crime stance, is attempting to modify Collins’ sentence from the death penalty to life without parole.

Rose’s family claimed they were taken by surprise by Gascon’s move and have accused the struggling prosecutor of ‘fighting for the murderer.’

The office of Gascon claims that Collins’ exemplary conduct, lack of’serious rule infractions in more than 20 years,’ and the fact that his crime had just one victim should allow him to avoid the death penalty.

Last month, Gascon reversed several of his most unpopular decisions, including as not pursuing life sentences without parole and not trying juveniles convicted of major crimes as adults.

Gascon’s unexpected change of heart occurs as he confronts a second recall effort organized by his adversaries, who assert that his woke policies are to blame for the growing crime rates in Los Angeles.
