On Reading Festival’s final day, violence, robbery, and tent-burning broke out

As rioting, theft, and tent-burning broke out on Reading Festival’s last day, revellers fled early.

Some people claimed online that there were insufficient security forces to maintain order as people threw chairs and other objects into big bonfires.

Around 4 o’clock on Sunday, chaos erupted, with footage showing campers at the Reading campground being burned by fire.

Hip-hop and alternative festival attendees reportedly battled when various performers played on the same stage after one another, according to an eyewitness who saw the altercation.

arrest for spiking needles

Thames Valley police said that a man was detained in relation to a needle-spiking incident that occurred during the Arctic Monkeys concert on Saturday.

He was eventually freed, the police informed Berkshire Live.

One of several arrests made during the event over the weekend was this one.

Police rejected reports that a shooter was at the event.

A guy was detained and then released in connection with a needle spiking incident during the Arctic Monkeys headlining concert on Saturday, according to some troubling reports of needle spiking.

Numerous festival-goers left the venue early as rioting and tent looting persisted, causing the roads out to become congested.

According to festivalgoers on social media, fires were started between tents in the Orange Camp area of the festival throughout the day, and additional flames burnt on Sunday night.

Amber Vellacott, a 26-year-old festival goer, said she and her partner had to leave after being engulfed in violence.

‘We witnessed flames start at about 4 o’clock in several camps, the staff & security were quick on them, but all the youngsters were surrounding and egging it on, throwing trash & cans into them,’ she said to the Mirror.

We noticed a shift in the camp sites’ atmosphere, and when we saw individuals pulling up tents and trash and scattering it over the campgrounds and into the woods, we decided it would be better to pack up and go.

But even for two mature people, much alone all the kids there, it didn’t seem secure. There was some security there when we departed, but not a lot, at about 7 o’clock. There are many volunteers who are hesitant to participate, and I don’t blame them.

Historically, the Reading Festival has had disorder and significant fires, especially on the festival’s last day.

The 1975 took the stage as the craziness continued on Sunday night, after other well-known performers including The Arctic Monkeys, Dave, and Megan Thee Stallion.

The report follows the death of a 16-year-old kid at the Leeds Festival after a drug-related incident.

A 16-year-old teenager dies at the Leeds Festival while consuming a “grey or black MDMA tablet,” prompting the authorities to initiate an inquiry.

According to authorities, a 16-year-old kid passed away today after possibly ingesting a “grey or black” ecstasy pill at Leeds Festival on Saturday night.

West Yorkshire Police have opened an inquiry into the teen’s death, which is thought to have been caused by narcotics.

Around 10.16 on Saturday night, officers received a report that the kid had been transported to the medical tent after becoming sick.

He was rushed to the hospital, but sadly he passed away on Sunday. His parents are aware.

West Yorkshire Police Assistant Chief Constable Catherine Hankinson said:

We have police assisting the boy’s family through this very trying time, and our thoughts are with them.

While the precise cause of his death has not yet been determined, one line of inquiry is that he may have consumed a certain kind of ecstasy (MDMA) pill, which was described as having an oblong form and being grey or black.

Currently, it is assumed that this was a unique incidence since there haven’t been any complaints of anything comparable.

Users of drugs that are not medically prescribed by a physician may never be certain of their contents or the hazards associated with taking the substance.

Anyone who feels unwell after using any drug should get help right once.

“We are carefully coordinating with the event organisers and are continuing to make inquiries on the ground.”

On social media, police issued a call for anybody with knowledge on the tragedy to come forward.

Since its inception in 1999, Leeds Festival has been a well-liked event for teens and young adults. It ran this year from August 25 to August 28.

This year, Leeds Fest had daily attendance of around 100,000 people.

US pop artist Halsey will perform on Friday night, rapper Dave, who was born in Streatham, will perform on Saturday, and the Arctic Monkeys will perform on Sunday at the event.

On Saturday night, The Arctic Monkeys, whose lead singer Alex Turner is from Sheffield, also gave a performance at Reading, Leeds’ sister festival.

Reading and Leeds usually share headliners and opening bands, and both events take place at the same time each year in late August.
