Johnny Depp says he needs work during MTV VMAs

The Hollywood actor made his first public appearance following his highly-publicized defamation dispute with his ex-wife Amber Heard to make a comeback.

He attended the awards ceremony dressed as the fabled moonman from the VMAs and performed a pre-recorded sketch in which he flew across the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Throughout the course of the evening, he made a number of appearances. In one skit, he made a joke about being available for birthdays, Bar Mitzvahs, Bat Mitzvahs, marriages, wakes, and any other occasion that could arise. And what about that? I required the task.

“VMAs, let’s go back to the f*****g music, shall we?” Depp said to the crowd afterwards.

It’s thought to be the actor’s first significant US television appearance since his 2017 performance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
This is also the 59-year-old “Edward Scissorhands” actor’s first public appearance since winning his court case against his ex-wife Heard earlier this year.

Heard was found guilty of defaming the actor on all three charges by a jury of seven people in June for an opinion article she wrote for the “Washington Post” about being a victim of domestic violence, which omitted mentioning the actor.

Heard was left with a debt she claims she cannot afford to pay after Depp was given $10 million in damages while she only received $2 million in compensatory damages and no punitive penalties.

Heard appealed the amount she owes in July, and Depp filed a notice to appeal the defamation judgement the jury ordered him to pay his ex-wife 24 hours later.
