The Sun said that an unidentified crew member aboard Flight BA75 heading for Lagos, Nigeria, opened an emergency door abruptly on Friday, January 13, causing the Boeing 777’s slide to pop out moments after the plane pushed back from the airport gate.
Before comprehending the rookie’s embarrassing blunder, emergency services raced to the plane, assuming it was about to be evacuated.
Passengers were delayed for around four hours due to shock.
“The aircraft landed normally and passengers disembarked without incident. We apologized to guests for the inconvenience, presented them with vouchers for refreshments, and arranged for a replacement aircraft so they could continue their journey as scheduled,” a BA representative told The Sun.
