Nomusa Dube Ncube wants to restore the economy and create good employment

According to recently elected Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube, the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial government’s main goals include reviving the economy and generating quality employment in both the official and informal industries.

The expansion of infrastructure, focused execution of radical economic transformation programmes, and coordinated government investment will all be given high priority, according to Dube-Ncube.

The comments were made by Dube-Ncube on Thursday at the MEC’s (Members of the Executive Council) swearing-in ceremony. The event is held after the new premier was sworn in on Wednesday.

Siboniso Duma has been named MEC for Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs; Dr. Ntuthuko Mahlaba has been named MEC for Human Settlements and Public Works; and Sipho Hlomuka is now in charge of Transportation, Community Safety, and Liaison. Sihle Zikalala, a former KZN premier, has been named MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA).

Dube-vacant Ncube’s position as MEC for Finance has been filled by Peggy Nkonyeni; Amanda Bani-Mapena has been named MEC for Sports, Arts, and Culture; Mbali Frazer has been named MEC for Education; and Bongi Sithole-Moloi has been named MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development.

Nonhlanhla Khoza and Nomagugu Simelane continued in their roles as MECs for Health and Social Development.

According to Dube-Ncube, the MECs’ next months would be marked by assiduous effort and selfless dedication to the province’s citizens.

The Premier said, “Our second message is that we (elected leaders of society and society at large) must cooperate to realise the full potential of our province.

She emphasised that it is crucial for the incoming executive council to understand that KwaZulu-Natal is endowed with a wealth of skilled leaders who have a vision for a flourishing future in all spheres of society.

“Choosing the appropriate road, however, is what is vitally required in order for everyone of us to arrive at our objective.

As we set out on this journey to create a better KwaZulu-Natal, we invite the people of that province to walk with us.

The departing MECs, previous and present categories of employees from various government ministries, including Sihle Zikalala, former KZN Premiers, and other individuals were also praised by the Premier for their devotion to the current administration.

“I commend them for helping to build a better province both socially and economically.

We want to thank them for helping the changeover from the previous executive council to the current executive council go smoothly.

In order to usher in a new era in our province, we need on their continued support as the new executive.

We shall do every effort to keep government personnel motivated.

We value them as change agents at the heart of our initiatives to guarantee reliable service delivery, said Dube-Ncube.

She emphasised that the members will build on the strong foundations previously established by their forerunners, and that “we would make more efforts in achieving what we have pledged to do in fulfilling our election mandate.”
