Oleg Ustenko, economic adviser to Volodymyr Zelensky, says about $1 trillion would be needed to restore the Ukrainian economy

According to Volodymyr Zelensky’s economic advisor Oleg Ustenko, reestablishing the infrastructure and economy of Ukraine would require spending close to $1 trillion, or five percent of its GDP.

“If indirect damage is added to the $650 billion in direct losses Ukraine has suffered as a result of the conflict, the total will rise to $1 trillion. These funds are needed, “Ustenko made this statement on Espreso TV on Wednesday.

He claims that this sum is equivalent to five times the nation’s annual GDP, as opposed to last year’s GDP, which hit a record high of nearly $200 billion.

He clarified that even though the country’s capital borrowing markets are currently closed, Ukraine still receives about $5 billion in grants each month.
