Loyalists of Slain Bandit Kingpin Kareem Boss Killed in Airstrike

Reports indicate that at least twenty-two loyalists of Kareem Boss, the deceased kingpin of a bandit group in Katsina State, were recently killed in an airstrike conducted by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The NAF fighter jets targeted the bandits in the Batsari and Jibia local government areas of Katsina State.

According to information provided by PR Nigeria, the foot soldiers of the deceased bandit leader were neutralized by the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji on Monday.

The decision to conduct the airstrikes was based on credible intelligence reports linking the terrorists to numerous abductions and violent attacks on communities in Kankara LGA of Katsina State.

Successful Airstrikes Based on Intelligence Reports

The NAF airstrikes were carried out following intelligence reports that revealed the terrorists’ involvement in various criminal activities.

Sources involved in the planning of the operation stated that a large number of terrorists were discovered hiding at a location, with plans to carry out kidnappings and attacks on commuters along the Jibia-Katsina road.

In response, the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji executed multiple air interdiction missions, targeting the identified locations.

The strikes resulted in the elimination of several terrorists, as well as the destruction of their structures and hideouts.

NAF Confirms Airstrikes, Emphasizes Collaborative Efforts

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force, confirmed the recent airstrikes conducted on Monday.

However, he did not provide specific details regarding the operation.

He did mention that Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff, has directed all air component commanders to work in synergy with other security agencies.

This collaboration aims to maximize the NAF’s capabilities and effectively target terrorists and their hideouts.

Background on Kareem Boss and Previous Airstrike

Kareem Boss, the bandit kingpin, was previously killed in August 2022, along with some of his fighters, in a NAF airstrike at Ruga Forest in Katsina.

Boss was allegedly responsible for orchestrating the assassination of a Nigerian Police Area Commander of Dutsinma on July 5, 2022, in addition to other heinous acts.
