Provost of Fife Jim Leishman stated at the time, “The official title of city will give Dunfermline the wider attention it deserves as one of the fastest-growing metropolitan regions in Scotland, with every amenity a modern metropolis might desire.”

This will have a favorable effect on Dunfermline and its environs.

‘Of course, the people of Dunfermline have always known that Dunfermline is a city, which is why we have the City Car Park, City Hotel, and City Cabs, but it’s nice to finally receive official recognition.’

King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will carry out further engagements in Scotland today, in addition to the ceremony.

Before exploring Dunfermline Abbey to celebrate its 950th anniversary, they will attend a council meeting at the City Chambers.

They will subsequently conduct a banquet at The Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh to honor British South Asian communities.
