New battleground survey puts GOP takeover margin at 8 seats

In a new battleground poll, the House Republican takeover lead has shrunk to just 8 seats, with Biden’s support rating rising to 45 percent as independents are divided on the Mar-a-Lago raid.

Biden’s approval rating has increased as a result of a string of big Democratic victories, including the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS Act, and student loan forgiveness.

A narrow majority of voters support both the Inflation Reduction Act and the cancellation of student loans: 55 percent-45 percent and 54 percent to 46 percent

The majority of Biden’s increased approval comes from Democrats, eight percent more of whom highly approve of him now compared to July.

Forty-five percent of Americans approve of President Biden's job in office while Republicans are projected to win back the House with 226 seats, a slight dip from last month, according to a new CBS-YouGov poll

A strong majority continues to view the economy negatively: 65% think it is very terrible/pretty awful, while 31% say it is very good/very good.

According to a recent CBS-YouGov survey, 45 percent of Americans approve of Vice President Biden’s performance in office, but Republicans are forecast to retake the House with 226 seats, a little decrease from last month.

As a result of a string of key Democratic victories, including the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS Act, and student loan forgiveness, Biden’s approval rating is currently between 45 and 55 percent, up from 42 to 58 percent a month earlier.

Both the Inflation Reduction Act and student loan forgiveness are supported by a thin majority of voters: 55 percent to 45 percent for the former and 54 percent to 46 percent for the latter.

According to the poll, his overall job approval among registered voters is at its best level since February.

According to a recent CBS-YouGov survey, 45 percent of Americans approve of Vice President Biden’s job performance, while Republicans are forecast to win back the House with 226 seats, a little decrease from last month.

As gas prices in the United States continue to decline from record highs, Biden’s satisfaction rating in inflation and the economy has also increased. Where previously 35 percent approved of his economic management, now 40 percent do. The management of gas prices has increased from 34% to 40%, while the handling of inflation has increased from 35% to 40%.

Unsurprisingly, the majority of Biden’s approval boost comes from Democrats, eight percent more of whom highly approve of him now than in July.

52% of Democrats now believe that things are going at least somewhat well for the nation, up from 39% in July.

Biden had the highest levels of approval for his management of Russia and Ukraine (46 percent) and climate change (45 percent).

Sixty-five percent of respondents indicated the economy is either very terrible or moderately awful, while only 31 percent said it is either fairly good or very good.

Nonetheless, inflation remains a top concern for Americans, and the Republican Party is largely viewed as having the upper hand on the issue.

59% of respondents believe that Republicans will prioritize inflation, while only 49% feel that Democrats will.

Democrats must now translate this improved outlook into more voter participation in the upcoming midterm elections. The poll predicts that the Republicans will gain 228 seats, four less than what was predicted in July, when they were predicted to win 230. To seize control of the House from the Democrats, the GOP needs only 218 seats.

In the meanwhile, Americans remain divided along partisan lines as to whether they believe the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence was conducted to defend national security, with Independents somewhat siding with Democrats.

Eighty-five percent of Democrats and 59 percent of Independents say the FBI raided the former president’s residence in the sake of national security. Twenty percent of Republicans are of the opinion that the FBI was motivated by national security concerns.
