Detectives are conducting a murder investigation following the tragic death of a man during a burglary attempt to steal his beloved pet dog.

The incident occurred at an address on Ainsworth Road in Radcliffe on Tuesday morning at around 10:30 am.

Responding to reports of burglars attempting to snatch a white labradoodle, police arrived at the scene to find the lifeless body of 45-year-old Donald ‘Prentice’ Patience.

Mr. Patience’s family and friends, deeply saddened by the loss, fondly remember him as a cherished son, brother, and father, affectionately known as Prentice.

The authorities also recovered the pet dog from the scene, which is now under the care of Greater Manchester Police.

A post-mortem examination conducted by the Home Office raised suspicions about the circumstances of Mr. Patience’s death.

As part of the ongoing investigation, three individuals have been apprehended on suspicion of murder.

The police have urged anyone who might have witnessed any unusual activity in the area earlier in the week to come forward with information.

Two of the arrested men, aged 27 and 41, have been released on bail after questioning, while a 39-year-old man remains in police custody for further inquiries.
