Murat Galasi, a friend of Ay Huncho and a member of Alameddine, died in Turkey.


After leaving Australia for Turkey, a high-ranking member of the Alameddine criminal network passed away in a gym.

Murat Galasi, 33, was not assassinated in an ambush outdoors like many other criminals who died either before or after lifting weights.

Instead, he is said to have passed away from a heart attack on Friday in Istanbul after pushing himself a bit too hard during a workout.

Galasi escaped an attempt on his life when he was shot in the leg in December 2021 in one of the most disgraceful attacks of Sydney’s gang war.

He was with four men outside a gym in Prospect when they were fired upon, with bullets from the brazen drive-by shooting piercing the wall of a daycare centre and missing a toddler by inches.

Alameddine associate Ali Younes, better known by his rapper persona Ay Huncho, took to Instagram on Saturday posting a tribute to Galasi.

‘My beautiful big brother, my heart hurts, I’m lost, I love you so much… this life isn’t going to be the same without you,’ he wrote.

Galasi fled the country just two weeks earlier after reports a ‘big money’ contract was placed on him.

‘He headed off recently, on the usual path over to Turkey and Lebanon,’ a source told the Daily Telegraph.

‘He’s a very smart operator, particularly when compared to some of his friends, so you’d assume he’s read the room and gotten out of Sydney, and I don’t think you can blame him.’

Galasi was among several figures who were the subject of serious crime prevention orders by NSW Police in 2021 in an effort to reign in feuding gangs.

He was listed in the orders as a senior member of the Alameddine crime network.

His death echoes that of former Lone Wolf bikie boss Erkin Keskin who fled Sydney for Turkey and died shortly after in March this year.

The ex-Turkish soldier was among Australian law enforcement’s top targets and considered one of the biggest importers of drugs into Australia.
