Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards 2023 Nominees List Released: A Look at the Full List and Categories

MultiChoice, the organizers of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), released the list of nominees for the 2023 edition of the award on Sunday, April 16, 2023.

The awards ceremony will be held in Lagos, Nigeria on May 20, 2023.

The nominees are competing in 33 categories, 10 of which are open to public voting.

Hosts of the event were popular Nigerian actress, Bisola Aiyeola, and Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Anang.

The nominees for the various categories were unveiled during the event.

Best Actor in a Comedy and Best Actress in a Comedy are two of the categories open to public voting.

The list of nominees for Best Actor in a Comedy are Adokiye Horsfall, Charles Etubiebi, Charles Inojie, Chinedu Ikedieze, Kunle Idowu, Nedu Ani, Nkem Owoh, Nosa Afolabi, Samuel Perry, and Samuel Perry.

The nominees for Best Actress in a Comedy are Albert Oluwatoyin, Bimbo Ademoye, Funke Akindele, Grace Wacuka, Mercy Johnson, Mercy Johnson Onogie, and Roselyn Ngissah.

Other categories open to public voting include Best Actor in a Drama, Best Actress in a Drama, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Online Social Content Creator.

Meanwhile, Best Picture Editor, Best Sound Editor, and Best Cinematographer are some of the categories that require a panel of judges to select the winner.

The nominees for Best Movie Southern Africa are Elvis Chucks for Jewel, Emmanuel Mwape for Silver Lining, and Leburugraphy for Ke Bona Spoko.

Best Movie East Africa nominees are Click Click Bang by Philip Karanja Njenga, Elenor Nabwiso for Karamoja, Gashumba Emmanuel for Dial M for Maya, Hassan Mageye for Bedroom Chains, Lucy Mwangi for Baba Twins, Mugisha Herbert Morris for Tembele, Nadira Shakur for Married to Work, Omar Hamza for Gacal, and Wilson Nkya & Jane Moshi for Frida and Philipo Ngonyani for Mvamizi (The Intruder).

Best Movie West Africa nominees are Brotherhood by Jade Osiberu, Chris Odeh for Choke, Kayode Kasum for Obara’ M, Kunle Afolayan for Anikulapo, Rent-A-Studio & Native Media TV for Kanaani, Samira Yakubu for Red Carpet, and Winifred Mena Ajakpoviv for Four Four Forty Four.
