A mother and son are accused of operating a brothel out of their South Florida home, with one sex worker claiming she was paid based on the number of condoms used at the end of her shift.
The family were apprehended after an investigation into a report that 15-year-old girls were being offered to men for sex, according to WPEC.
Using surveillance and dummy “johns,” investigators reportedly determined that Glin Yan Zuniga Latin, age 28, and his mother Amparo Latin Barillas, age 52, were operating the brothel, according to a news source.
The mother was allegedly responsible for operating the door and taking cash payments, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
According to an arrest document, “johns,” often known as customers of sex workers, were required to pay $50 before receiving a membership card. According to the document, they would then choose a commercial sex worker, enter a room, and give over the card before engaging in a sex act, as reported by WPEC.
According to the station, each sick encounter was limited to 15 minutes.
A sex worker discovered by cops at the brothel said Barillas instructed her to work three days per week for $25 each client, according to officials. She allegedly said that she served an average of eight to ten clients each day and was solely compensated based on the quantity of used condoms at the conclusion of her shift.
WPEC stated that the lady informed police that there was a second brothel next door that was deemed a different operation, but officials think the mother and son were also involved in the second brothel.
The station said that bank subpoenas revealed the two made monthly cash deposits into their accounts, but there is no proof they had another source of income.
Both Latin and Barillas are accused of profiting from prostitution and operating a prostitute home.
The arrest took place earlier this month.
