Renowned Nigerian comedian, Francis Agoda, popularly known by his stage name ‘I Go Die’, recently shared a compelling anecdote from his past.
Via his verified Instagram account, he revealed that he once found himself spending a night at a brothel in Port-Harcourt, reflecting on the circumstances that led him to such an unconventional situation.
The incident took place many years ago, as he took his audience back to December 26th, 2000.
On that day, Agoda was in Port-Harcourt for an event, “Nite of a Thousand Laughs,” produced by Mr. Opa Williams.
He recounted how a combination of financial constraints and a lack of awareness about the event’s provisions resulted in his unexpected overnight stay.
Agoda disclosed that he had received a payment of 10,000 naira for his participation in the event.
However, he was unaware that this amount was meant to cover not only his performance but also his accommodation, transportation, and meals.
With only 2,000 naira remaining from the payment he had received months prior, he found himself unable to afford even the cheapest hotel room, which was priced at 5,000 naira.
Facing limited options, he reached out to a prostitute for help.
He managed to strike a deal with her, agreeing to pay her 1,000 naira in exchange for a place to sleep.
However, this arrangement came with a condition; the space for him to sleep would only be available after 2 am, once her other clients had left.
Following his performance at the event, Agoda made his way to the makeshift accommodation.
What transpired during the night was beyond his expectations.
At around 5 am, he was awoken by a knock on the door.
To his surprise, the woman he had made arrangements with requested that he wait outside for 30 minutes.
Baffled by the situation, Agoda decided to venture out to the Water Line area in search of transportation.
In closing, Agoda used this vivid recollection from his past to inspire his followers.
He emphasized that, regardless of the challenges one faces, brighter days are ahead.
He encouraged his audience to maintain faith, live with hope, and believe in the potential of their dreams.
The comedian humorously pointed out that even esteemed figures like Chris Oyakhilome and Chris Okotie hadn’t surpassed his hair prowess in that particular year.
