Feared Mongrel Mob biker detained in Sydney’s west for allegedly running an abduction and cybercrime ring

Members of the infamous Mongrel Mob bikie gang from New Zealand have been accused in Sydney for an alleged abduction as video shows one being led from his house wearing just a tracksuit and slides.

Around 6am on Friday, elite NSW Police Raptor squad officers conducted house raids in four neighbourhoods in Sydney’s south-west, detaining two males, ages 30 and 32, who were allegedly connected to the notorious motorcycle gang.

Police confiscated a black and silver motorcycle, a blacked-out truck, as well as several club jackets and other items during the searches.

The 30-year-old guy was accused with intentionally leading a criminal organization and kidnapping someone with the aim to detain them for ransom.

Additionally, the guy was charged in connection with the suspected shooting of a 35-year-old in Merrylands last month.

The guy was taken in a tracksuit and a grey zip-up hoodie from his Georges Hall, near Bankstown, house to Bankstown police station.

Saia Solofonti, 30, a heavyweight with Mongrols Bikie Club, was accused with abduction allegedly occurring in May.

A 32-year-old male was also detained during the searches and transported to the Kogarah police station, where he was charged with conspiring to hold a person for ransom, knowing to direct the actions of a criminal cell, and aiming to obstruct investigations.

The Mongrels Mob’s jackets, patches, bandanas, and other articles of apparel with the club’s symbol were among the things the police removed from his residence.

Cops also seized a Ford dual cab pickup truck in all-black, as well as a black and chrome street motorbike with a wide back tire and sideways mirrors.

For his part in the scheme to abduct the guy with the intention of holding him for ransom and for dealing with more than $100,000 in criminal gains, a third accused Mongrel, 42, was also charged.

The appearance of the bikie gang is unusual as their activities in Australia have been limited and largely confined to the Gold Coast in previous years.

The gang are beginning to win sway in Sydney’s underworld scene from across the ditch.

The kidnapping charges are believed to be linked to a 21-year-old being allegedly taken from his Bankstown home and taken on a ‘drive’ – before he was dropped back at his house, a police source said.

Inquiries from bikie and cybercrime task forces’ following the alleged incident culminated in multiple home raids early on Thursday morning across four Sydney suburbs.

The 30-year-old man will face court in November and was refused bail.

The 32-year-old was also refused bail and will front court on Friday.

The 42-year old is set to appear in Liverpool Local Court on September 12.
